2017 - A series of protective cases for the Diesel brand. I was responsible for concept ideation and development, and design validation and manufacturing support. We worked directly with the Diesel team to develop a family of products that were true to the brand DNA. Our vision was to develop a bold product offering that would function as a platform for customization and creative expression for the Diesel team..
The Inlay and Folio cases were designed as a platform for Diesels material stories; Giving Diesel the creative power to explore denim, leather, and other natural and synthetic materials.
Graphics and Patterns
The protective comolded case uses in mold labeling as a platform for Diesels' graphics.
The brand is bold, and uses embellishments and functionally suggestive details to convey their message. I explored functional details and chiseled aesthetics to explore how we can connect to the brand and the existing Diesel follower.
The bumper of the cases uses a hard edge where applicable. The edge and taper create a larger surface on the backside of the case. The edge covers the majority of plastic you see on a typical bumper when looking at it directly from the back. The secondory function of the edge is to create a sense of subtle ruggedness that resonates with the attitude of the brand.
